Live License Version GUI Inside the License Portal

I would like to propose something that would be very useful for MSPs, resellers, or anyone with a larger number of licenses. While we currently have the option to check whether or not a license has an active update&support license, that doesn't always corelate with whether the client actually updated their installation. As far as I am aware we already have a check that refreshes the license information and synchronizes it with the portal roughly every 24 hours. Now I am not aware whether this is only one way Portal>AdminTool, or if it is also possible to collect something at the same time (version number in this case).

 

With this information, I would like to have a section in the online portal where the client could see all of their licenses in a nice list with a "latest version" indicator + current version build if not currently up to date with the prompt to update to the latest version. This would help out the license managers by not forcing them to check each of their installations to make sure it is up to date. Instead they would be able to see exactly which one is up-to-date and which one needs updating. Support might also benefit from this, as it would save them a step where they check whether the user is up-to-date or not, and it might theoretically slightly decrease the number of tickets caused by issues that are solved simply by updating to the latest version.

 

If we had this functionality, we could also explore how we can improve farm management via a subscription, as you could change the number of users for separate computers inside a subscription and then remotely "force" a license refresh, completely mitigating the need to go inside the admintool and refresh the license manually, which would allow clients to change around the number of users inside a farm if needed without having to log onto the servers one by one. Of course, you would first need to remove users from a computer to be able to add them to a different one inside the subscription.

 

I think having a separate section inside the customer portal that monitors all the licenses connected to the given activation key(s) would be hugely beneficial in terms of IT management, reducing headaches, and optimalization. Additionally, having a refresh button inside the customer portal could save some extra time for both the client and support.

 

I would love to hear your thoughts on this and discuss it further.
