Renew maintenance on licenses with expired maintenance (automation support)

We would like to confirm whether it is possible to renew maintenance on a license that:

• is still active

• but has maintenance already expired

Additionally:

• can this operation be performed via script / automation (API or CLI)?

• or is it supported only manually via the portal?

This information is important for automated lifecycle management of licenses.
